Wednesday night I was staying in the city for a data center event and decided to meet Sarah and have that healthy dinner we were supposed to have the night before.

Siggy's has Manhattan and Brooklyn locations that serve up local, organic, sustainable, whole foods at a good price- at least that's their mission and after our visit it seems to me they are achieving this goal!

Sarah went for the Splendid Raw Slaw with Sesame Kale & Cabbage ($11) made with thin shaved kale, green cabbage, carrots, parsley, and sesame seeds in a lemon vinaigrette topped with a Veggie Burger Patty ($8) made in house with garden vegetables, black beans, and fresh herbs.

The veggie burger was more substantial than the pre-made versions often found elsewhere. Our waiter, Ash, who we decided was the most attentive and nicest waiter we've had recently, had recommended their local grass-fed beef patty, but Sarah had been a bit beef happy earlier that week and decided to go veggie style.

I went for the Wild Salmon Burger ($11) with salmon "ONLY", seasoned perfectly, avocado, lettuce, and vegan mayo. Ash said it was "go to" burger and he was right. Vegan mayo makes me nervous (based on no real experience) but the entire combo was really satisfying and great quality.

As a side I ordered the Kale Sautéed with Garlic ($6) and boy did it have big chunks of garlic. I was sharing a room with my co-worker that night and felt a little bad about how I might smell but that guilt quickly dissolved.

This was definitely a healthy contrast to the previous nights food adventures. I am sure we will return here on a future visit!
